Over the years we have had countless reports, particularly from teachers, of the difference e’Pap has made to the health, concentration and energy levels of the children in their care who would not otherwise have had sufficient nutrition.
e’Pap is made from wholegrain maize and soya beans. Vitamins are added into the mixture in a form that the body can easily absorb. e’Pap contains 24 micronutrients and four macronutrients which maximise absorption and “bio-efficacy” in the human body. This means that e’Pap will be absorbed into the body more effectively.
Econocom Foods (who produce e’Pap) explain that e’Pap addresses the issue of “hidden hunger” and micronutrient deficiencies, which can compromise the immune system and interfere with focus and concentration at school. Hidden hunger can be the result of poverty, diets based on processed starchy foods and an agricultural system that is focused only on “volume/yield” rather than nutrient dense crops.
Preparing e’Pap is also straightforward – it just needs to be mixed with clean water. This is an invaluable feature in the areas in which the feeding projects we fund are based, as it can therefore be prepared in even the most basic of settings.
Pictured are pupils in the Knysna area and at Missionvale Primary School near Port Elizabeth, all eating their e’Pap in class.
