An article in the Economist in July last year entitled “How to raise the world’s IQ”, observed that:
“Just as muscles need food and exercise to grow strong, so the brain needs the right nutrients and activity to develop… there is no room for complacency…we examine an even graver problem [than the problem in relation to children’s diets in rich countries]. In poor and middle-income countries, many children are still too ill-fed to reach their cognitive potential. Globally, 22% of under-fives – roughly 150m children – are malnourished to the point of stunting. That means their brains are likely to be stunted, too. Half the world’s children suffer micronutrient deficiency, which can also impede brain development.”
These reflections in isolation could lead us to feeling a bit helpless. However, the GRCT’s work is hopeful work. e’Pap contains essential vitamins and micronutrients as well as protein and unrefined carbohydrates. We therefore believe that e’Pap is the best breakfast for the children who benefit from the GRCT’s funding.
